Duroville Food Distribution Program

Sacred Heart Church in partnership with Catholic Charities and Martha’s Village &Kitchen will be providing food monthly to Duroville, a trailer community of approximately 2,000 people in the East Valley on the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indian Reservation.

Volunteers for packaging and delivery will be needed every month as part of our ongoing 2 year project.

Update:
As we adjust to the beautiful weather and the shorter days we have decided to change the start time for the delivery from 5:30PM back to 4:30PM.  Volunteers should start to arrive around 4:00PM if possible. We will be working with several youth groups from the Indio area to secure additional manpower.  Our hope is to have many of our strong SHC volunteer group to produce a joint team to get the task done in the usual 90 minutes or less time frame.

Packing: Volunteers will assemble and pack boxes with non-perishable food items for delivery.
Next packing date is October 19th , from 8:30AM to 11:00AM at Martha’s Village in Indio.

Delivery: Volunteers needed for door to door delivery of boxes weighing approximately 30+ pounds.
Delivery is set for October 21st , from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Duroville.

We ask for  support and prayers from our entire community as this project can not be  possible without the strength and labor of our volunteers and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
