Additional Volunteer Opportunities
Kairos Prison Ministry
Kairos is an ecumenical Christian organization with over 25,000 trained volunteers through out the United Stets who facilitate the three day weekend Karios program in State and Federal prisons.
To date it has impacted more than 175,000 prisoners and their families.
Kairos is an out growth of the Christian renewal movement called Cursillo.
Kairos Outside is a 2 day retreat program for wives, and mothers of Incarcerated men and includes women volunteers on the team.
The Mission of Kairos is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individual., their families and those who work with them (And we would testify that it certainly does!) Kairos means God's time
Currently several men in Sacred Heart parish are active at Ironwood State Prison, Blythe, and Centinela State Prison in the Imperial Valley.
Requirements to Volunteer:
It is helpful if person has done Cursillo three day program.
However, with training offered before each semi annual three day Kairos week-end course, new men are encouraged and can participate. There are 3 or 4 team meetings before the week-end.
At Ironwood, we have the weekends in April and November each year.
